Dis-fiaba
Dis-fiaba is an educational project that focuses on disabilities and diversities, with the central themes being inclusion and acceptance of others.
The project is inspired by the book Fiabe e Disfiabe and promoted by Cooperativa Lule, the bookstore and publishing house “La memoria del mondo” and Openmind SRLS.
Disfiaba recognizes in storytelling a powerful tool to talk about diversity and disability.
The project is proposed as a methodology to talk about diversity and disability through, primarily, emotional writing and then with illustration, photography, collage… also rediscovering the value of the fairy tale as a literary genre.
Talking about diversity and disability can help a person with a disability identify with characters and develop empathy processes.
According to Matteo Losa, one of the first promoters of the Disfiaba projects, it is important to believe in fairy tales as an educational tool, but above all as a liberating one.
